Erno Rubik
Erno Rubik created the Rubik’s Cube in 1974. Then he spent a month trying to solve the puzzle he invented! This Hungarian invention continues to be popular 47 years later. More than 350 million cubes have been sold. It’s estimated that 1 in every 7 people on Earth have tried to solve one. Now there are competitions where people try to solve the cube within seconds!
In Rubik’s new book, Cubed, he explains how the puzzle came to be and what he’s still learning from his creation. “The cube gives me hope people can solve their problems and survive,” says Rubik.
