What if a dog could say “help” when something was wrong? A new project, nicknamed FIDO, finds new ways for dogs to help owners with medical conditions. FIDO researchers created a dog vest that holds a tiny computer inside.
Trainers teach a dog to activate sensors by pulling a cord on the vest. The dog learns to do this when it sees its owner is in distress. Once activated, the vest plays a recording that asks for help. The vest’s computer can even call 911! FIDO researchers hope that with this technology, working dogs will save more lives.
