Highland cows come from the Scottish Highlands. A soft undercoat keeps them warm. A shaggy overcoat—which can grow up to 13 inches long—keeps off the rain.

Every August, about 100 million people around the world tune in to watch the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. It’s a huge celebration with dozens of performers, including bagpipe players!

For special occasions, men in Scotland often wear kilts. Kilts were traditionally made using a 5-meter-long strip of plaid fabric called tartan. You can still find handwoven tartan at fabric mills today.
